The name of this webpage “do not fear math” was inspired by the statement that struck my mind the most during our discussions on the course.
Growing up with a huge fear and hatred in the subject due to various circumstances in the past, just hearing the word and even seeing mathematical formulas causes exasperation and make me shudder.
Taking up the subject as a GE elective was a risk for me as I have no idea about how the subject goes and how it works. Luckily for me, I can say that it was one of the best decisions that I made during this semester.
Every meeting, I learn how to appreciate the beauty of mathematics and how it affects the way the world works. Every meeting, too, I get a significant takeaway on the applications of math that I can use in my life.
Although I may still be bad at doing hard math with heavy computations, I now see doing it in a different light—not as a burden but as a challenge.
